What is
R.O.A.R.?
Roots of Advocacy & Resilience (ROAR) is a communications initiative rooted in Selma and the Alabama Black Belt. Through education, storytelling, and digital media, ROAR creates space for community members and young people to explore sustainable agriculture, food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and the history that connects us to this work.
At its heart, ROAR is about people. It is about sharing knowledge, learning from the past, lifting up community voices, and creating opportunities for a new generation to learn, lead, and take part in building stronger local food systems. Through stories, resources, and hands on learning, we've used ROAR to help grow a more informed, connected, and resilient community.
